Consistency In The Capitol
The DTG VUW & MU bands are consistently incredible. The FANS are consistently supporting and passionate. Valhalla is a consistently cool music venue. So it was no surprise that DTG VUW & MU Season Two kicked off in accordingly fashion. DIG THE GIG VUW & MU Heat One went off with a bang! Zed Ramsey and his band Dreams of the Damned exploded big time! There was blood and gunpowder all over Valhalla.
DIG THE GIG House Band Celtic Death let it rip and instead of warming up the PA it was slightly over heated at the end of their blazing set.
Thanks to our new Host with the Most Moey Robbins - he started out a little shaky but by the end of the DTG VUW & Mu season he will be on fire!
Thanks to Ben and his hospitality hero’s for the sound, lights and custom - you guys are legends.
Great to see Major Major quenching the fans.
Chloe Bothwell kicked the night off with herself and her acoustic guitar - Chloe’s music is cinematic with dramatic landscapes that will pull on the heart strings. She has created tremendous space in her songs which give the audience time to reflect and get well immersed in the lyric and verse. A big future ahead.
Yasemin is very new to the Wellington music scene - events like DIG THE GIG give us a chance to meet new musical souls - we were all pleased to meet our new friend on Wednesday night. Yasemin plays piano superbly and her vocal range is a mix of Taylor Swift and Lana Del Ray which is quite the combo. Great to see new and outstanding talent live in the Capitol.
Zadie hit the stage with precision and persuasion - a very cool band that know how to play and they sounded great. Mellow gauge at it's finest! Zadie Hurrell played DTG last year in a band called Pout (which we loved) so good to see her back with her own outfit and kicking ass big time!
Dreams of the Damned are real characters of the Wellington Uni Music Scene. Sure it helps being young but you have to know how to play the game on and off the stage - Congrats on winning heat one and we will see you on Finals day.
Daisy Grae gave the fans a good hit of their alternative funk rock last year - I am pleased to say that they have raised the bar somewhat this year. Will Burke and his band played tight and loose which ain’t easy to do. They came up short but watch out for a possible Wild Card calling.
See all you good souls at Heat Two this Wednesday night from 7pm at Valhalla.
