Seraphim win the spoils but can they handle the Semi Final?

GIG THE GIG UC Heat 3 on Wednesday night was a stunner!

Five brand new bands joined the DIG THE GIG Circus and they all over delivered big time!

The night started on a somewhat historic note as local legends Castaway (who played in the very first DTG UC Comp back in 2021) had the House Band duties and they killed it!

Their hit single Supernova kicked off their ridiculously tight set and from there on in it was banger after banger - these guys are infectious, insanely talented and extremely well rehearsed at the live performance.

Thanks for the music gentleman! Huge thanks as always to Mike & G and your Hospitality Hero’s for staging this event. Flo Herzog for the sound, Sam Hanniford for capturing the moments and Liam D for hosting another kick ass event! You guys are legends - we cant do this without your positive energy.

Thank you.

First band up was By Tomorrow - the Fal-Cav brothers on drums and bass instantly found their special spot and we all felt the groove accordingly - William Morris on lead vocals reminded me of a young Paul Hewson AKA Bono - say no more! Johnny Bullen on the guitar was the icing on this mysteriously funky sonic cake! You gotta see these guys to believe it. Awesome show.

Detour are new to the live band scene and thank God they jumped onboard DIG THE GIG - you have to start somewhere and by the end of their set they broke a few hearts. They threw themselves well into the deep end and survived to tell the tale. Catchy originals that they should be friggin proud of! Thanks for taking the leap of faith into the great wide open and taking us all back to the beginning:) We loved you.

Honey For Jupiter are a cool band - Lead singer Tee Bish has something special going on, she had the crowd in the palm of her very capable hands - very laid back band that the fans fell in love with instantly. I have a feeling they will be back!

Single Malt gave us a taste of what The Herbs used to sound like back in the day - slick, velvety reggae moments that gave Heat 3 some wonderful colour! Cooper Gibb-Faumina’s vocal range was super smooth and super engaging - a great band that has clearly played a show or two! Fat Freddys cover was perfect!

Seraphim closed off the night in disarray - they went well off piste but came back to life astonishingly well. These guys are an interesting act, they are odd but have that uniqueness about them that gathers intrigue and when they got it right it was pretty bloody good. Congrats on winning DTG Heat 3 - you brought the crowd and I have a feeling that Seraphim will be a very different band come semi finals time! I should make mention that their bass player went down sick before the show.

See you at the Semi Finals on June 26th.

Wild Card Bands are announced Soon! Stay tuned!
