LEO LILLEY BRINGS THE CROWD!

DIG THE GIG Heat 2 at Erricks venue last Wednesday night was a ripper! An evening full of surprises, highlights and shit hot live bands!

Bunchy’s Big Score took over the DTG House Band reigns and did a sterling job. Three-piece punk rockers that went deep and barely came up for air - absolute legends!

Huge thanks to Ed Loboski on sound and production - Tokerau Joseph had another great night as our Host with the Most - Thanks to Destynee and her hospitalities hero’s for serving the cold drinks of Major Major and Steinlager! As always thanks to our wonderful FANS that came out and let loose!

Rumour has it that Heat 3 on Wednesday June 19th is packed with the best live Uni Bands in town - from the incredible calibre of the bands that we have witnessed across heat One and Heat Two we could be in for one hell of a night! All gave some but some gave all.

One Day unlocked the shackles for DTG OU Heat 2 - Tiana Turnbull’s vocals were impressive to say the least - a very 'easy on the ears' five piece band that know how to play a dynamic mix of indie rock.

Leo Lilley brought the songs and most importantly brought the CROWD and they were friggin loud. An entertaining three song set that has embedded himself and his rocking band into the DTG OU Semi Finals. Great show!

The Trev’s were a real highlight - first time in the history of DIG THE GIG that the Saxophone and harp went head to head on solos! Incredible bunch of dudes that know how to have good time. We Loved it.

Give Up were another raging highlight - punk rockers that simply don't give a shit, underrated but certainly not under-armed. This is close to the Dunedin Sound as one will get - superb soaring guitar sounds and in your face vocals from both Niki Night and Arlo Haig - sensational performance by a bunch of crazy cats!

Deadbeat Blondes formed a year ago - it's amazing what you can do in such little time - AJ Keable lead the band perfectly through their catchy rock track set - great to see another saxophone in the line up!

Caribou was another wonderful highlight - frontman Mario Girardet ripped into their performance with a mix of rage and calmness - these guys are influenced by the Pixies, I am pretty sure that if the Pixies had walked into Erricks last Wednesday night they would have loved this set. Keep up the good work gentleman and don't go changing!

No Danger closed off the evening - a non stop action packed set is how they describe their show - it was more than that, it was over the top and insanely powerful on all fronts! Blake May’s vocals have to be heard to be believed, Alex Matthews keyboard, melodics and harmonica chops are infectious as hell, the whole band are next level pros! We had a taste of No Danger and I get the feeling they could be up for a Wild Card come semi finals time.
